شرح

Historically, in Iran, the courtyard of the mosque is always connected to the bazaar and, therefore, to an important urban pedestrian network. One does not go to a mosque in isolation. Consequently, the mosque courtyard has a daily social significance as a meeting place for men. The architecture of the university mosque signifies the beginning and end of a journey started at any point along the pathway , by taking people into the courtyard and out again. The mosque building introduces and changes the direction of the walkway making architecture out of a three way intersection. The material used for the mosque, including the floor of the courtyard, is wheat-colored brick, making a totality reminiscent of a monolithic environment. The vertical, turquoise-glazed minaret, shining like a jewel under the intense sun, further emphasizes the entrance to the mosque. In order to break the isolation of the courtyard, there are peek-holes along the wall, hinting at the life beyond. The interior spaces consist of a two-level area which segregates men from women, a common practice in the mosque, and a small office and library The beauty of traditional mosque architecture is enhanced by the use of bright and colorful mosaic tiles, which softens and dresses the rigid structural reality. But, in this mosque we have minimized the use of color.
