شرح
The client's need, was to design a big shop - the first branch of a chain store, selling a wide variety of home furniture.
This, leaded the architects to compile an ambient design language for this shop and the upcoming branches in the future.
There were two main challenges in the design process;
First: was to divide a big store into lesser spaces, so that home furniture could be placed and shown in a home scale.
Second: Injecting the sense of a "home", affected by the shop name- Dorsa Home.
Therefore, each lesser space (zone) is considered as a part of a home.
The spatial connection between zones is inspired by a typical Persian city; with its organic alleys, sabats (covered alleys) and urban open spaces in the junctions.
On the other words, the homes (zones) are connected by the alleys and open spaces (circulation) and these – all together – express a metaphor of a city.
The sequences of narrow and wide spaces, entrances and the frames ahead the visitors, are designed to maximize the probability of visiting all the spaces.
The relation of this small utopia with the surrounding city texture of Tehran – this allegation of uneven development - is very important; for example, the shop is located in a building with the kitsch architecture of roman façade and the design is done to neutralize the effect of facing the main building!
Totally, the design of the shop attracts people, make them move through the spaces with various qualities; on the other words, from a city of chaos to a calm city of white walls and this is the extendable design language for the chain stores of Dorsa Home.
